What is it? The Supplier Diversity Forum is based in London and composed of key decision-makers in procurement, equalities and sustainability policies in large purchasing organisations; policy makers; small and medium-sized businesses; business membership organisations; and other relevant organisations. Informal, off-the-record discussion sessions are convened to drive the supplier diversity agenda forward. The Forum's Mission: To promote and support the opportunities for minority led businesses through supply chain in the private and public sectors. The Forum is intelligence-led, working towards ensuring that there is an innovative and fair response to the economic recovery and wider government legislation and policy. The Forum will draw on the expertise and influence of its members by sharing good practice. Management: The Forum is led, in partnership, by the Equality and Human Rights Commission and the Migration Policy Group. It is chaired by Professor Monder Ram of Creme. There is a Steering Group that provides direction to the Forum. | Key Aims are: 1. To showcase good practice to strengthen the business case thus creating a portfolio of case studies. 2. To provide a Centre of Information: the Forum will disseminate information on new supplier diversity initiatives and legislative developments.
3. To raise awareness: the Forum will hold events with partners to raise the profile of supplier diversity. It will also seek to connect supplier diversity to wider governmental or private sector agendas on procurement or economic recovery.
4. The Forum is organising thematic interactive Workshops addressing specific topics on, for example, the drivers for supplier diversity, Innovation, Measurement, Social Return on Investment and ‘whole life’ costing an sector-specific topics for example healthcare, banking or retail.
| We carry out a range of activities and we will provide updates on these on a continuing basis here. September 2011: We ran a workshop at the Law Society with 80 attendees from all sectors. The aim was to explore some of the drivers for supplier diversity. Please have a look at the agenda and breakout sessions notes as well as slides presented by Carillion and DWP below:
